Korean-Japanese Cute Singer, Ayumi Lee

Ayumi Lee or Yumi Itō (Korean: 이 아유미, Japanese: 伊藤ゆみ, born Ayumi Itō (伊藤亜由美, Itō Ayumi?) August 25, 1984, Tottori Prefecture, Japan), from former Korean girl-group Sugar, was raised in Japan for much of her younger life and is the reason for her Japanese accent, although she is now fluent in both languages. Although Ayumi's name is commonly believed to be Japanese in origin, she has explained that her name is hanja-based. She has also attended Korea Kent Foreign School.

Ayumi stated on the 66th episode of SBS's Xman that she was discovered at a H.O.T. concert. The singer debuted in 2002 as part of the girl group Sugar, contributing to their 3 Korean and 2 Japanese albums. She has recently branched out as a solo artist, releasing two digital singles. The first, a cover of the theme song for Cutie Honey (also covered by Koda Kumi), came out on July 13, 2006 with a lot of fanfare, as Ayumi was criticized for her heavy accent and the overall Japanese feel of performances on the various Korean music shows. However, the song became a hit online, and Lee performed the song for much of the summer. Her second digital single, "잘못된 만남" (Wrongful Meeting) was released on November 7, 2006, and is a cover of Kim Gun Mo's hit from 1995. On New Year's, she performed Yuki No Hana, a cover of Mika Nakashima's song as a special treat. She switched labels in early 2007, moving to SM Entertainment, contributing to their summer album in their title song. In the MV for the title song, "Let's go on a trip!", you can see pictures of her and hear her singing, though many have confused her with Stephanie. It has been said that Girls' Generation's Sunny's, sister is Ayumi's current manager in SM Entertainment; however, this claim has not been substantiated.

Just recently, Ayumi contributed once again to SMTOWN in their winter album and was shown in their MV "Only Love", showing her new look. She is also currently appearing as Yamada Yu's co-worker in Binbō Danshi, also featuring Oguri Shun.
